Dr. Louis Arnold “Budd” Cloutier, Jr. has been practicing optometry in Houma over 22 years. He received his doctor of optometry at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Louisiana State Association of Optometry and the New Orleans Contact Lens Society. In 1994 he and his wife Vicki opened his private practice, Cloutier Eyecare. “I felt a need to practice using my own personal values,” says Dr. Cloutier. “My patients deserve my best. That is what my practice is built on. That's how we train our staff: treat others the way you want to be treated.”Cloutier Eyecare is located at 130 Enterprise Drive.
Eyecare is something that affects everyone. “We watch ‘Doc' work with patients everyday”, says administrator and wife, Vicki. “Some of the most tender moments are when a young child comes in with a hurt eye or just not knowing what to expect. Doc takes off his white coat and seems to magically make the child feel comfortable and gets the results he needs to diagnose and treat his/her problems. Not only do the kids love him, but so do the parents! Most parents feel that ‘if you help my child, you've helped me.” The Cloutier staff has also witnessed plenty of relieved patients after seeing Dr. Cloutier. He has diagnosed conditions such as brain tumors, severe diabetes and detached retinas, and sent them immediately for emergency care that has saved their vision, and even their lives.
Dr. Cloutier specializes in eyecare for all ages, including cataract care and diseases of the eye, LASIK corrective eye surgery, eyeglass fitting, contact lenses, pediatrics, and trauma to the eye.
Cloutier Eyecare has staff of highly trained opticians. “Staff education is high priority in our practice,” explains Vicki. “We have found, over the years, that the more educated our staff is, the more they are able to educate our patients. Patients want to know all the facts. They like to have that power to make educated decisions about what they want.” Cloutier says all of their products are state-of-the-art. “We make available the newest technology to our patients."
